Blogging for profit
By Quentin | August 13, 2007
Personally, I think blogs are a great for a couple things:
1. Generating social network traffic. You submit your blog to all the different social networking, bookmarking, and tagging sites out there and really see an immediate influx of traffic. Get the google analytics plugin at:

And, a google analytics account at:
http://www.google.com/analytics
Put your tracking code in your wordpress file and you can track exactly how many visitors you’re getting… where from… where they go… etc.
It’s pretty cool!!
2. High search engine rankings for competitive keywords. Plain and simple, it’s hard for a static website to compete with a blog in terms of search engine ranking… (Yes, there are definitely exceptions for highly skilled SEO’ers)… so, you can used a blog to target a general, high traffic “money” keyword.
For example… do a google search on the keywords “internet marketing” and look at organic listing #6 (dotcomsecrets.com by Russell Brunson). That’s a blog-driven site (most likely Wordpress) with a PageRank of four… ranking on the first page of Google for an extremely high traffic “money” keyword… among sites with PageRanks as high as 6 and 7.
Google loves the fresh content blogs provide… and if you set it up right… you can turn all traffic into $$$
3. Building solid credibility. Probably most important is that a blog allows you to interact with your “market”, get to know them, and build credibility. I did a product launch once… and during the launch, I busted my butt to personally answer all the emails I received… what happened was that over 90% of my buyers on launch day were people I had personally emailed. That personal touch can really go a long way… and, a blog is a perfect way to do that on a large scale… again, done right.
For me, I set up my blog this way…
1. Target high-traffic money markets/keywords.
2. Use wordpress and cram it full of social networking/bookmarking/tagging plugins.
3. Add in cool plugins that make it more like a community.
4. Provide high-quality, useful content.
5. Actually interact and get to know the people who visit the blog.
I believe you can really create a powerful presence in your market using a blog in this way…
Anyway, getting a little long here… hope that helps.
